APPLY supported Tamimi in achieving the first-ever Buildoffsite Property Assurance Scheme (BOPAS) accreditation for a building system for deployment outside the UK.
Description of our Work
In anticipation of growing demand for the hospitality sector in Saudi Arabia, Tamimi PEB has positioned itself as the leading designer and manufacturer of independently certified modular building systems in the Kingdom. Tamimi PEB commissioned APPLY to manage the accreditation process for its Category 1 3D volumetric building system.
The Buildoffsite Property Assurance Scheme (BOPAS) was selected to provide system accreditation due to its independent role in providing assurance to lenders, developers, contractors, and homeowners, that construction systems installed by accredited MMC providers, conform to industry best practice in terms of durability, and system integrity.
The first stage of the project was a design and durability gap analysis to determine system performance. Working collaboratively with the client team and ADEPT Consulting, we reviewed all design information across disciplines, for conformity with The Saudi Building Code (SBC) and alignment with BOPAS criteria. Any gaps were recorded, reviewed, and closed with the Tamimi PEB team.
The design and installation information provided was very comprehensive, enabling the development of the System Manual and supporting information and test data to be submitted. BOPAS undertook in-country and remote reviews to ensure comprehensive scrutiny of the system.
Working with clients remotely can present logistical challenges, but our established process for managing independent accreditation workflows, and experience of working with international clients enabled the system to be signed off in 4 months.
